The e-menu is the side guests see: scan the code on the table and the menu opens, with nothing to download and no sign-in. The mobile app is the side owners use: setting up, entering dishes, arranging menus, changing prices and printing QR codes, all on a phone.
The e-menu
- Scan and read. One QR code per table, and a dedicated link for each menu; mobile first, usable on a weak connection.
- Multilingual. The first screen picks the guest’s browser language among the languages the menu actually has, falling back to English; guests can switch at any time.
- Allergens. Labelled by the fourteen EU allergens, in three states: contains, may contain, free from.
- Layout and colour. Five layouts (modern, classic, Chinese, French, Japanese) and six colour schemes; the restaurant chooses and may let guests switch.
- Embedding. A menu can also be placed on any page of a website with the shortcode
.
The mobile app
The app has two paths matching the two ways to join: connect to this site (create a restaurant after registering), or connect to the restaurant’s own website (after installing the connector once). Once connected, the two paths offer the same functions.
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Dishes | Add and edit dishes (names and descriptions per language, category, price, spiciness, allergens, picture); pick from the dish library or from other restaurants on the same site |
| Menus | Several menus and sections, starting from templates (lunch, dinner …); assign dishes to sections |
| Tables | Areas and tables; generate a QR code per table |
| Orders | Online orders and their status (when the ordering add-on is on) |
| Loyalty | Guest loyalty members and points (when the loyalty add-on is on) |
| Settings | Restaurant name, address, currency, default language and overview |
The app’s interface comes in seven languages (Simplified and Traditional Chinese, English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese) and by default follows the default language of the restaurant being managed. Packages and versions are on the downloads page.
Sign-in and security
The app signs in with WordPress’s built-in application passwords rather than a separate account system, and all management goes over HTTPS. Members can manage only their own restaurants. The connector does one thing: it lets the app, with an administrator’s application password, install, activate and update the e-menu plugin on the restaurant’s own site.
