Reasoning Dining is an information platform for the restaurant supply chain developed by the Reasoning Research Institute. It starts from a concrete difficulty — the menus of Chinese restaurants abroad, which foreign guests cannot read and owners find laborious to enter — with a multilingual e-menu, and then moves upstream along the menu: dish data, ingredients, supply.
Our approach
- Data stays with its owner. Every restaurant and supplier is its own site, and sites exchange only data in agreed formats.
- What is common becomes a common library. Translations of dish names, the classification of allergens, the vocabulary of ingredients: done once, used by all.
- Declaration over inference. What a machine infers is a hint, never a declaration on someone’s behalf.
- Open. The plugins are released under the GPL, interfaces and data formats are public, and anyone may run a node.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by [full name of the operating entity]. Reasoning Research Institute: reresearch.org. Contact details are on the contact page.
This site provides information services and software. It is not a food business operator and not a party to any transaction. For the allergens and ingredients of a dish, the declaration of the restaurant serving it prevails.
